Have you met Charlie the heron?

"Charlie is an incredibly mild mannered black-crowned night heron, a medium-sized heron found throughout a large part of the world. For six years Thomas Pitkin of Scarborough, who sadly passed away in May of 2010, came to visit Charlie daily at the benches located by our wave deck. He would feed him roast chicken, which was an unusual treat for someone who by nature usually feasts on small fish. Although Thomas is gone, Charlie still comes around (between mid-April and mid-October) looking for his buddy. If you happen to see him, stop and say hi, and don’t be afraid to bring him his favourite treat."
